Hi! I'm Isabelle and I am the founder of Lab Coats Unite! The mission of our organization is to help underprivileged students who know that they are interested in STEM, but they are unsure of where to start in their journey of finding of particularly interest them by exposing them to different jobs and professions, providing different STEM opportunities and internships for them to try, and other things.
As I rising senior in high school, I got the opportunity to do 4 paid internships, but I had to a lot of research on my own to figure out what I am interested in and to find those opportunities that a lot of people don't know exist. Most of the time I didn't even know where to look for STEM experiences as a high schooler.
Over the winter/spring, I was a teacher's assistant for a biotechnology program at my high school who helped the students find research internships for the following summer. Since I did that same program sophomore year and got an internship that summer, a lot of the students (who were my peers and classmates) asked me a lot of questions about how to look for internships on their own and how to figure out what type of lab they want to be in, which got me the idea of starting Lab Coats Unite!
As a member of Lab Coats Unite, you will be a part of a community of aspiring STEM leaders who are passionate in not only their own passion and future, but ensuring that everyone can have the same access to STEM education and opportunities that can help them further their STEM career and help them with their future with STEM!
Please feel free to reach out to the LCU Team if you have an ideas/suggestions for this organization! You can dm us on Instagram or email us at labcoatsunite@gmail.com
I want to thank you for being a part of this organization, and hopefully together we can help support all students, no matter what their background is, and help spark their passion in STEM :)
